Major Heat · 大暑

The design

A fan motif for Major Heat. The collection pairs a long pierced metal bookmark with a painted enamel round-fan bookmark, explored as a browser-based design study.

Traditional seasonal signs

1. Fireflies rise from the grass 腐草为萤
2. The soil is damp, the air sultry 土润溽暑
3. Great rains come in their time 大雨时行

These are traditional poetic observations used in the design, rather than a modern scientific account. The seasonal date is approximately 23 Jul and varies by year.
